Intermedix Announces New Offerings for Emergency Physicians

New data analytics solutions provide operational and financial support for emergency medical directors.

Oct. 27, 2015

BOSTON – Intermedix Corporations announced Tuesday the release of TOPS, its data analytics offering for emergency physicians, at the American College of Emergency Physicians’ Scientific Assembly in Boston.

The Tool for Optimizing Provider Schedules, or TOPS for short, was created to meet the need of emergency department medical directors when planning provider schedules and coverage resources.

It uses proprietary analytics and predictive modeling technology to create demand models that account for the large variability in patient volume typical to most emergency departments.

“Emergency departments’ demand and acuity mix can swing suddenly throughout the hour, day or week,” said Justin Schaper, Intermedix senior vice president of analytics. “By leveraging granular data and statistical modeling, we are able to deliver emergency department medical directors with a solution to that problem.”

TOPS is available as a stand-alone offering to both independent emergency physician groups and hospitals.

“TOPS provides emergency departments with an innovative way to improve efficiency in provider scheduling,” said Kyle Wailes, Intermedix executive vice president of physician services. “This is an important step in the enhancement of our comprehensive suite of analytics solutions for emergency physicians.”

Intermedix has also made performance improvement updates to its overarching analytics platform, which is used to provide insights to the operational and financial performance of emergency departments.

In addition to its new analytics offerings, Intermedix announced its new line of practice management and revenue cycle management services and tools tailored to freestanding emergency centers.

“As industry regulations change, the decision to operate in a freestanding emergency center setting has gained popularity as a lucrative option for emergency providers,” said Wailes. “Intermedix has provided emergency physician groups with practice management and revenue cycle management for more than 30 years. We have expanded our capabilities and proven expertise to support emergency providers who have opted to pursue the freestanding route.”

Demos of the TOPS analytics tool will be available at the Intermedix booth at the 2015 ACEP Scientific Assembly.
